B.O.A.C. De Havilland Comet 4

The Comet 4 was designed for the North Atlantic run  and commenced operational service in October 1958. In the following year the routes wre extended to Australia, Japan and South Africa and in 1960 to Canada, Chile and the Caribbean.

Engines: four 10,500 lb. static thrust Rolls Royce Avon 524.

Cruising speed : 503 m.p.h.  Cruising altitude : 42,000 ft.  Range with full load : 3225 miles.

LUFTHANSA Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental

Lufthansa has 20 747-8I on orders, the first due to delivery in spring 2012.  The first aircraft ( registration D-ABYA ) will be subjected to ground testing before starting initial flight tests in November.

AMERICAN AIRLINES A321 NEO

American Airlines ordered  260 Airbus plus 360 options.

  Deliveries of 130 current generation aircraft will begin in 2013, while 130 neo’s will start entering the fleet in 2017.

Ship 101  N9896 christened "Georgia Belle"

Delta acquired five Boeing 747. The first one was delivered to Atlanta on October 2, 1970.

First scheduled service Atlanta-Dallas-Los Angeles on October 29, 1970.

The airline used it's 747 fleet between the major cities : Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Ft Worth, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and New York.

Delta DC8-51 - Atlanta Hartsfield Airport

On March 8, 1962, a Delta DC8 is the first airplane to fly between Los Angeles and Atlanta in less than three hours. The official Time was 2 hours, 57 minutes, 11 seconds.

Delta Air Lines DC10 - Atlanta Hartsfield airport

Delta Air Lines acquired five Douglas DC10s in case of delay or cancellation of L-1011 deliveries.

The planes arrived at Delta  in late 1972.

The airline started DC10 service from Atlanta to New York La Guardia on December 15, 1972.

Delta became the first airline to operate three of the first generation wide-bodied jets.

Delta's DC10 service ended on May 1, 1975.

The airline acquired twelve DC10s from Western Airlines when it merged with Delta on April 1, 1987.

Last retirement: December 1, 1988.
